The library will be hosting a drop in, tech-time tutoring session on Wednesday, January 8 from 6:00-7:00. One of our knowledgeable staff members will be available downstairs in the reference department, ready to answer your questions. This program is free and open to the public. Health Talk: Medicinal Benefits of Common Plants & Herbs
The library will be hosting Dr. Alicia Powell for an evening discussion Thursday, January 9 at 6:00. This program will focus on medicinal applications of common plants and herbs. Attendees will learn how herbal medicine can be a powerful support to overall health. This will include how/why specific herbs work in practical 1st aid applications, skin care, immune system and digestive support. Ways to achieve success with safe usage will be emphasized. We all have a story to tell. Start writing yours now. The monthly workshop takes place Saturday, January 11 at 1:00 and focuses on generating new material in a supportive environment. Prompts will be provided, but feel free to write anything you want. Participants are invited to read their writing aloud; share as much or little as you want. Feedback and comments concentrate on what is strong and good about the work. All genres-fiction, poetry, memoir, etc.- and any experience level welcome; even if you don't consider yourself a writer. The workshop takes place in the Community Room (Green Street entrance.) Registration is required, and can be done at the Reference desk or by calling 570-454-2961.
Computer Job Application Assistance
Need help applying for a job online? A staff member will be available in the reference department of the library Tuesday, January 14 at 10:00 to help with the job application process. Basic computer skills are necessary as there may be multiple people needing help at one time. Be sure to have a resume and cover letter saved to an email account, and be able to access said email account before attending the program. Winter Toddler and Preschool Storytimes begin Wednesday, January 15 and will last for six weeks. Toddler Storytime, for children currently ages 2 and 3, is on Wednesdays at 11:00. Toddlers must be accompanied by an adult caregiver. Preschool Storytime, for children ages 4-5, is on Wednesdays at 6:00. Preschool Storytime incorporates many facets of early learning and school readiness. Registration is required, and can be made by contacting the library’s Children’s Department at 570-454-2961. Registration begins Monday, January 6.
Explorer Club: Dinosaurs
This group meets once a month and is for students in grades 3-6. Each month we explore a different topic with hands-on activities and games. Our next program takes place on Tuesday, January 7 from 6:00-7:00, and we will be exploring dinosaurs. Babies, Rhythm, and Rhymes!
On Saturday, January 11 at 10:00, begin your child’s love of music, rhymes, and books as we dance, sing, and read together. This program is for children from birth to 23 months, but older children may join in the fun!
