Diabetes Management
Iris Delgado, local Community Health Navigator with AmeriHealth Caritas, will be at the library Tuesday, October 15 at 6:00 presenting on Diabetes Management. This adult program takes place in the Community Room (Green Street Entrance), is free and open to the public. Registration is required. To do so, visit or call the library at 570-454-2961. Refreshments will be provided.

Hazy Painters
For the month of October the library’s Hazy Painters will be redesigning in paint, on canvas Washington Irving’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. This family friendly program is free and open to the public and takes place Saturday, October. 19 at 1:30 in the Community Room (Green Street Entrance). Registration is required; to register, visit or call the library at 570-454-2961. All necessary materials are provided.

 

HAPL Haunting Hour
Hazleton Area Public Library will host a Spooky story hour on Thursday, October 24 at 6:00. Whether it’s about ghosts, goblins or ghouls, we want to hear your favorite spooky story. Choose something new, a classic tale, or even a creation of your own that’ll leave us with goosebumps. Readers and listeners of all ages are welcome. Readers will be given between 5-10 minutes, depending on total participants. Registration is required by October 22 and can be done at the Reference Desk or by calling 570-454- 2961. Please inform us at time of registration if you intend on reading; it is not required to attend.

Autumn Scratchboard Craft
On Tuesday, October 29 the Hazleton Area Public Library will be creating autumn themed scratchboard. Attendees will pick a simple autumn theme and explore the technique of cross hatching. The design will be scratched into the prepared board to reveal the gold foil underneath. There is no experience or skill necessary. This will be a beginner's level class. Class will start at 6:00 in the Community Room. Please use the Green Street entrance. Registration is required as space is limited. Writing Workshop
We all have a story to tell - start writing yours now. Our monthly workshop focuses on generating new material in a supportive environment. Prompts will be provided, but feel free to write anything you want. Participants are invited to read their writing aloud; share as much or little as you want. Feedback and comments concentrate on what is strong and good about the work. All genres - fiction, poetry, memoir, etc.- and any experience level welcome; even if you don't consider yourself a writer. Workshop takes place Saturday, November 2 at 1:00 in the Community Room. Use the Green Street entrance. Adults and teens 16+ are welcome to attend. Registration is required, and can be done at the Reference Desk or by calling 570-454-2961.

Adulting 101: Basic Auto Care/Winterizing One’s Car
The Hazleton Area Public Library will be hosting its second Adulting 101 program Tuesday, November 5 at 6:00. The topic for this program is basic auto care/winterizing one’s vehicle. Adults and teens 14+ are welcome to attend this free program. The program takes place in the Community Room (Green Street Entrance) of the library. Registration is required. Fall Storytime
Fall Toddler and Preschool Storytimes begin Wednesday, September 25 and will last for six weeks. Toddler Storytime, for children currently ages 2 and 3, is on Wednesdays at 10:00. Toddlers must be accompanied by an adult caregiver. Preschool Storytime, for children ages 4-5, is on Wednesdays at 6:00. Preschool Storytime incorporates many facets of early learning and school readiness. Registration is required, and can be made by contacting the library’s Children’s Department at 570-454-2961.

October Little Learners
This program is for children in kindergarten–2nd grade. The program takes place Monday, October 21 from 6:00-7:00. Children will learn about different topics and concepts through stories, activities, playtime, and crafts. Registration is required and can be made by contacting the library's Children's Department at 570-454-2961.

October Lap-Sit Baby and Me
On Saturday, October 19, begin your baby’s love of learning with stories, fingerplays, lap bounces, and songs. Older siblings may join. The program begins at 10:00 and lasts 45 minutes. Registration is required and can be made by contacting the library’s Children’s Department at 570-454-2961.

Scary Science
On Wednesday, October 23 from 6:00-7:00, children of all ages are invited to join us as Mr. Rich Angelo performs some chilling science experiments. Registration is required, and can be made by contacting the Library’s Children’s Department at 570-454-2961. Registration begins October 14.

Teen Time: Werewolf Escape Room
On Tuesday, October 22 from 6:00-7:00, students in grades 7-12 can try to solve the library’s werewolf-themed escape room. Registration is required, and can be made by contacting the library’s Children’s Department at 570-454-2961.
