Alison Treat, author of the young adult novel, “One Traveler” will be visiting the library on Thursday November 6th at 6PM as part of a very special statewide event titled “Speak Up for Libraries, a PA Forward Pennsylvania Libraries initiative”. This event places the spotlight on Pennsylvania authors and illustrators and the important role out state’s libraries have in the lives of citizens. Speak Up for Libraries will feature programs and events in libraries around the Commonwealth, where guest authors and illustrators will share the importance and personal impact libraries have had on their lives. “One Traveler” tells the story of Sidney Judson, a seventeen-year-old southern boy who moves to Wilkes-Barre, PA in the tumultuous year before the Civil War. Sidney learns of and is confused by his aunt and uncle’s involvement in the Underground Railroad. Copies of “One Traveler” will be available for purchase at the event. To register to attend, please contact the Children’s Department of the Library at 570-454-2961.
